The recall stems from a potential suffocation hazard. This is a serious issue that impacts millions of households across the nation.
Many of our readers know that safe sleep and safer bedrooms are a topic we've always been passionate about on this blog. As with other product recalls we’ve covered, this call-to-action serves as a stark reminder of the importance of infant sleep safety.
Read on to learn more about the recall of Fisher-Price Snuga Infant Swings.
Understanding the Recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced this recall on October 10, 2024. It affects approximately 2.1 million swings sold in the United States, 99,000 in Canada, and 500 in Mexico. The recall includes all models of Fisher-Price Snuga Swings sold from October 2010 through January 2024 at major retailers including Amazon, Toys R Us, Walmart, and Target.
Tragically, there have been reports of five infant deaths associated with these swings between 2012 and 2022. The swing's headrest and body support insert can increase the risk of suffocation if the product is used for sleep or if bedding materials are added. This heartbreaking situation underscores why safety experts consistently point out the dangers of using any inclined sleepers for little ones.

The Bigger Picture: Infant Sleep Safety
This recall brings to light the crucial importance of safe sleep practices for infants. As we've previously written about–including our blog post about the potential hazards of weighted blankets–the safest sleep environment for babies is a firm, flat surface in a crib, bassinet, or play yard, with only a fitted sheet.
