Details About Maple Island’s Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal Recall

Beyond choking hazards, there are many reasons why parents may want to be wary about what foods their little ones eat. In this case, Maple Island Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of three lots of its Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal. These are manufactured directly for Walmart, so they are fairly popular.

This recall stems from a routine sampling program conducted by the FDA. This sampling discovered that three production lots of Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal tested above the guidance for naturally occurring inorganic arsenic.

Now, to allay fears, so far no illnesses related to these particular cereals have been reported. Additionally, this recall only affects certain lots of the cereal, not the entire brand. Details on how to determine whether you have one of the affected products are below.

In reaction to the FDA findings, Maple Island Inc. is voluntarily recalling this product. These cereals were distributed nationally through Walmart’s stores and online. Walmart was advised and has pulled the product from its store shelves. Additionally, a register block has been put in place to prevent any further sales.
